Brownstein Wins 14 ADDY Awards; Most of Any Philadelphia Agency in 2018

PHILADELPHIA, March 9, 2018 – In a packed ballroom ceremony recognizing the best in creative talent from the Greater Philadelphia region, Brownstein Group (BG) was honored with 14 industry awards, the most of any agency nominated. The 2018 Philadelphia American Advertising Federation (AAF) Awards, known as the ADDYs, was dominated by work created by BG on behalf of clients: Nuts to You (a Philadelphia family-based snack company), DuPont™ Sorona® (an eco-efficient performance fiber) and Mural Arts (the nation’s largest public arts program).

“Our team is at their very best when they are pushing boundaries and creating work that commands attention,” said Marc Brownstein, President and CEO of Brownstein Group. “Change should be the only constant in advertising, and I am so proud that after 54 years Brownstein Group is still coming up with new ideas that elevate our campaigns above the competition. We are fortunate to have a team of thinkers that shuns tradition in favor of bold design, and it is always special to have that effort recognized by our peers.”

Nuts to You was looking to increase their store traffic around Halloween, and BG opted to create something totally unconventional by unveiling a “snackstalgic” campaign that played off classic scary movie “nuts” like Freddy Krueger and the twins from “The Shining” (in gummy form). The wildly popular concept netted 9 Golds and 2 Best of Shows in the areas of Out-of-Home & Ambient Media (Campaign Posters) and Sales & Marketing (Point-of-Purchase Counter Tops).

The team responsible for this nuttiness was: Gary Greenberg, Executive Creative Director; Adrian Castillo, Associate Creative Director; Andrew Panebianco, Senior Copywriter; Katie Bernstein, Senior Account Executive; Anne Ryan, Director of Brand Strategy; Ben Kripke, Brand Strategist; Lindsay Meadow, Project Manager; Mark Schaeffer, Production; and Nancy Logan, Production Manager.

DuPont™ Sorona® engaged BG for a complete brand refresh of their apparel and carpet divisions, and the agency responded with an elevated, high-end design that accentuated the company’s ties to performance and sustainability. BG won 1 Silver ADDY for their integrated National B-to-B Campaign, which included a brand website, brochure and promotional kit (among other elements), and 1 additional Silver ADDY for their highly-conceptual visual photography for Sorona® Carpet that involved floating models suspended in a dreamlike state. The team responsible for the National B-to-B Campaign was: Gary Greenberg, Executive Creative Director; Adrian Castillo, Associate Creative Director; Justin Melnick, Research & Insights Manager; Elisabeth Coen, Copywriter; Nancy Logan, Production Manager; Mark Schaeffer, Production; Jenna Frimmel, Senior Account Supervisor; Gina DiGiovanni, Project Manager; Jim DiGiovanni, Senior Art Director; Annie Devinney, Group Account Director; Hannah McDonnell, Copywriter; Natalie Eyerman, Art Director; Anne Ryan, Director of Brand Strategy; Megan Hegarty, Director of Digital Services; and Will Murdoch, Lead Developer. The team responsible for the Still Photography was: Adrian Castillo, Associate Creative Director; Jessica Katz, Group Account Director; Gina DiGiovanni, Project Manager; Nancy Logan, Production Manager; and RJ Muna, Photographer.

Mural Arts, a longtime client of Brownstein Group, selected the agency to produce the invitation to their 2017 Wall Ball, a fundraiser supporting collaborative public art projects, high-quality art education and training programs. The resulting design won BG yet another Silver ADDY in the category of Special Event Material.

The team responsible for the invitation was: Chris Fernandez, Associate Creative Director; Andrew Panebianco, Senior Copywriter; Katie Bernstein, Senior Account Executive; Nina Dombalagian, Project Manager; Mark Schaeffer, Production; Nancy Logan, Production Manager; and Gary Greenberg, Executive Creative Director.

Brownstein Group and other Gold or Silver Philadelphia ADDY Award winners are now eligible to advance to the regional phrase of the ADDY Awards, where they will go up against winners from other local clubs in one of 15 district competitions. District ADDY winners are then forwarded to the third tier, the national stage of the American Advertising Awards.
