Celebrity chef Guy Fieri made a special trip to the Philadelphia region to showcase his new menu at Guy Fieri’s Philly Kitchen + Bar, as well as drive attendance to the restaurant, located just off the casino floor in Harrah’s Philadelphia. BG was asked to plan and execute a press junket during Fieri’s 24 hours in the area.
To maximize Guy Fieri’s time in Philadelphia and give as many media outlets as possible to speak with the celebrity chef, BG planned a two-day media junket that included an influencer and media tasting dinner on a Wednesday night followed by one-on-one broadcast opportunities with morning television and radio stations on Thursday morning.
BG invited ten local/regional reporters and food bloggers and their guests to a tasting event at the restaurant, with select reporters doing one-on-one interviews with Fieri. Dishes featured on the new menu were displayed, allowing for reporters and influencers to take photos. Fieri also addressed the group, posed for photos, and distributed signed cutting boards.
The following morning, BG invited select local TV and radio stations to the restaurant to do live and/or taped interviews. Reporters were encouraged to jump in the kitchen and make Fieri’s famous Trashcan Nachos and Chipotle BBQ Pork Soft Tacos alongside the chef in honor of National Taco Day.
The two-day event resulted in 11 strong media placements over a variety of media, including TV, radio, online, and print. TV and radio coverage included four live segments on Fox29’s Good Day Philadelphia, a taped segment in the kitchen with 6abc’s weekly magazine show FYI Philly, a live radio interview on WMMR’s Preston and Steve Show, and two taped radio interviews on KYW NewsRadio. Due to the visual nature of the event, social media was also a strong factor, with 60 posts reaching over 411,000 followers across Instagram and Twitter.
