Education and Art Intersect During Brownstein’s Visit to George W. Nebinger Elementary School

Advertising agency’s designers teach sixth grade students about the importance of branding 

PHILADELPHIA, (March 11, 2015) – Associate creative director Kenny Kim and copywriter Hannah McDonnell from Brownstein Group made a visit to sixth grade students at George W. Nebinger Elementary School in South Philadelphia yesterday to teach them about the importance of honing one’s artistic ability and to expose them to a variety of rewarding careers available to creative minded individuals.  Students also participated in a mini art lesson about the importance of personal branding and asked to create their own personal logo and tagline. 

Though this was the first time that the students had an art lesson at the hands of Brownstein Group employees, students have had the good fortune to hone their artistic ability for several months now on classroom iPads, thanks to a generous donation made by the advertising agency.

Last year marked Brownstein Group’s 50th year in business and to recognize the milestone anniversary the ad agency held a year-long celebration, culminating with an art exhibition last October. In conjunction with the 2014 DesignPhiladelphia Festival, Brownstein Group welcomed employees, clients, friends and the community-at-large to Signs of the Times, a free reception showcasing artwork designed by the agency’s employees.  Original screen prints were sold at the event with proceeds going to fund local school art programs. Brownstein Group raised over $4,000 and decided to donate the money to three Philadelphia elementary schools serving high-poverty students and families, in order to support art classrooms in need of basic art supplies such as markers, paint and paper.
