AAF Honors Standout Work for The Shipley School and PHRF
PHILADELPHIA, August 2, 2013 – Earlier this summer, the American Advertising Federation (AAF) announced the winners of its 2013 regional ADDY awards. Brownstein Group was awarded two Silver District Two ADDYs in the “Collateral Book Design” and “Public Service Digital Advertising” categories for clients The Shipley School and Philadelphia Holocaust Remembrance Foundation, respectively.
“We are, of course, delighted,” said Dan Shepelavy, Brownstein Group Executive Creative Director. “Both winning projects are indicative of the kind of ace work that can be created when great research, client trust, and killer craft find a groove.”
To help promote and position The Shipley School, a distinguished preparatory school in Bryn Mawr, Pa.A, Brownstein Group designed a multi-functional and engaging “‘Roadshow Piece”’ – a tabloid-style spread that goes above and beyond the basic school brochure. The 12-page viewbook was created as a showpiece to be presented at school conventions, sent as a promotional mailing, and distributed as a handout for visitors and prospective students.
The Brownstein Group creative team responsible for the winning work includes Berny Brownstein, Chief Creative Officer; Dan Shepelavy, Executive Creative Director; Kyle Ferino, Art Director; Nicole Goss, Copywriter; Andrew Panebianco, Copywriter; and Nancy Logan, Production.
The Philadelphia Holocaust Remembrance Foundation (PHRF) joined forces with Brownstein Group to help further the mission to educate people on an international scale, and ensure that the lessons of the Holocaust are universal and enduring. Brownstein Group’s involvement with the organization included developing a brand identity and, fundraising collateral and designing an interactive new website. Launched in 2012, the award-winning website (http://thephrf.org/) brought the vision and mission of the institution to life through online storytelling, dynamic imagery and timeline functionality and social integration.
The BG team credited with the winning website design includes Berny Brownstein, Chief Creative Officer; Dan Shepelavy, Executive Creative Director; Teil Wise, Creative Director; Kyle Ferino, Designer; Andrew Rubin, Copywriter; Mike McAllister and Marcello De Feo, Developers; Phil Edelstein, Brand Strategy; and Jessica (Epstein) Katz, Account Manager.
Shepelavy added, “I think the mediums really matter here. The PHRF site matters because web design is finally able to take on some of the best qualities of print composition. In the case of Shipley, taking a fresh look at how to build a school viewbook really allowed the piece to find its own character.”
The AAF’s District Two is one of the largest in the organization. This year’s ADDYs entry field included winning work from 12 local ADDY competitions, representing New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia.
