Berny Brownstein Recalls Lost Pub Owned by Famous Philadelphia Boxer in Article

PHILADELPHIA (July 11, 2016) -The demolition of an old parking garage next door to BG’s offices on Broad Street has been going on for months but a bright spot emerged late last week, much to the surprise of passers-by and city residents alike.

A ghost sign for Lew Tendler’s emerged on the wall, bringing back memories for Brownstein Group founder Berny Brownstein who used to go to the bar before it closed in 1970.

“It was a colorful watering hole, a steakhouse.” said Brownstein. “It wasn’t family friendly. Everything today was family friendly and light eating. Tendler’s wasn’t that.”
