DesignPhiladelphia is a signature event of the Philadelphia Center for Architecture and the oldest design event of its kind. The nine-day festival aims to showcase the work of the region’s designers across multiple disciplines and promote the value of good design and its ability to solve problems and enhance daily life. Brownstein Group is involved with DesignPhilly every year, and in 2015 we supported the public relations efforts, helping drive excitement for the festival’s theme – SHIFT – and its 100+ events.
One goal many voices
For the 2015 edition of DesignPhiladelphia, the Center for Architecture organized an ambitious, multi-disciplinary place-making project intended to explore the possibilities for neglected city space. Dubbed “Pearl Street Passage,” the marquee event brought together architects, designers, and artists of all kinds to create ten unique installations along a small alleyway in Chinatown. BG worked with the media to tell the story of a project that involved many voices and perspectives, weaving together the input of many different designers and artists.
A Steady Build
BG strategically rolled out festival-related announcements to create a steady stream of media coverage throughout the weeks leading up to the opening day. From September 1 through to the end of DesignPhilly on October 16, BG earned more than 50 media placements throughout the greater Philadelphia region, reaching an audience of more than 3 million readers.
