PHILADELPHIA (October 16, 2015)– Brownstein Group and its unlimited vacation policy took center stage on Philly Mag’s BizPhilly blog yesterday, as the news outlet detailed three Philadelphia companies that offer the rare perk.
“We’ve had several people travel around the world for three weeks,” said President and CEO Marc Brownstein. “They come back and have so many new stories to tell — and that often helps them in their work. Being in our industry, you need to have a degree in life.”
BG offers its 80 employees unlimited paid time off, a policy it adopted three years ago. As long as employees are on top of their workloads, they’re free to take off whenever they please.
Though BG, Relay and Seer Interactive offer unlimited vacation policies, the trend is far from widespread. About one percent of U.S. companies offer them, according to the Society for Human Resource Management. But such practices could gain traction as progressive companies shift toward human resource policies that value production over hourly input.
