Brownstein Makes Leadership and Organizational Changes; Names Erin Allsman Agency’s First Managing Director

PHILADELPHIA (March 7, 2017)Brownstein Group today announced the promotion of Senior Vice President, Public Relations & Social Media Erin Allsman to Managing Director effective immediately. In a decade at Brownstein Group, Allsman has grown the public relations department by 400 percent, launched the social media and content marketing practices and led the agency to its first national PR and social media awards. As the first Managing Director, Allsman will oversee Brownstein Group’s public relations, social media, branding and digital practices while also leading the agency’s long-term growth and specialization strategies.

“Erin has transformed our public relations offering, not only growing it into one of the region’s largest and most dynamic practices, but managing it as the most operationally sound and efficient department within Brownstein Group,” said Marc Brownstein, President and CEO. “I look forward to having her apply the same focus and passion to the rest of the agency while always having an eye on what’s next in marketing and media.”

In an effort to optimize the organizational model, there will also be a number of structural changes made to the 53-year-old agency. Public relations and social media will now operate as distinct disciplines, and the agency will continue its focus on specialty and vertical practices, particularly digital activation, retail, business-to-business, architecture and real estate, technology and finance, and community engagement. Brownstein Group also recently added another floor to its Broad Street headquarters to accommodate recent expansion.

Replacing Allsman as the Director of Public Relations will be Group Public Relations Director Laura Emanuel. In nine years at Brownstein Group, Emanuel has been instrumental in the growth of the agency’s A/E/C specialty practice, developing integrated communication strategies for architects, designers, building owners, real estate developers and building product manufacturers. She has helped win over 30 Philadelphia PRSA Chapter awards and three national PR awards, including a PRSA Silver Anvil, PR Daily’s 2012 Media Relations Awards for “best response to breaking news” and PR News’ 2013 CSR Award.

Alison Kessler will head up Brownstein Group’s social media practice as Social Media Account Director. Kessler, formerly Social Media Supervisor on the IKEA USA team, will be joined by Kathleen Celano, who has been promoted to Social Media Content Supervisor. Celano was recently named a “Mover and Shaker” by Social Media Today and PR News for her tremendous work on accounts such as IKEA USA, DuPont Sorona®, Garces Group and the Philadelphia Auto Show. The social team will ladder up to the Digital Marketing practice.

“Brownstein Group is a legacy in Philadelphia’s advertising and PR communities, and I am humbled and proud to take on this responsibility for a place I truly love and admire,” said Allsman. “As we make this change on our 53rd anniversary, our creative roots remain firmly planted, but we look ahead to new and innovative ways to build our clients’ businesses across an integrated spectrum of communications.”
