PHILADELPHIA BUSINESS JOURNAL NAMES BROWNSTEIN GROUP A SOCIAL MEDIA STAR

PHILADELPHIA, March 8, 2011 - Brownstein Group was recently named a winner of the Philadelphia Business Journal's inaugural Social Media Stars awards program. The program honors the best social media projects, applications and campaigns in the region.

Brownstein Group was recognized for its development of the GORE-TEX® Experience More campaign, an online community for outdoor enthusiasts. The campaign engaged users who were already talking about the brand and related products and encouraged them to share their personal outdoor experiences in an online forum.

"Recognition as a Social Media Star is an honor that we've worked hard to earn," said Erin Allsman, public relations director at Brownstein Group. "It affirms our ability to incorporate this medium into a successful brand development strategy."

All of the winning entries will be detailed in a special print supplement of Philadelphia Business Journal on March 25. On April 7, the winners will be recognized at a cocktail event open to the public at National Mechanics between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The public is invited to vote for their favorite campaign, and a People's Choice Award winner will be announced at the cocktail event.

The Brownstein Group team involved in the development of the Experience More campaign includes Adam Deringer, senior vice president, chief digital officer, Joe Weinlick, senior vice president, chief brand strategist, Erin Allsman, vice president, public relations director and Kelly Lange, public relations and social media manager. The team worked together to recruit influential bloggers and brand loyalists to act as site ambassadors and site moderators and keep the conversation going through a variety of activities including a scavenger hunt, contests and philanthropy. A grassroots marketing campaign included an Experience More Blogger Summit, Experience More Ambassador Program and Experience More Photo Contest.

The campaign was previously awarded three awards at the Philadelphia PRSA's annual Pepperpot Awards program.
