On Friday, April 29, 2011, the wedding of Prince William and
Kate Middleton took the social media world by storm. Facebook and
Twitter users around the globe furiously tweeted and updated
statuses as they watched the biggest wedding that many will see in
their lifetimes. All 10 worldwide trends on Twitter
related to the wedding, making social media a major platform to
discuss the royal wedding.
Although the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's wedding was a
special circumstance, weddings and social media have become a
common trend long before the royal wedding. Our very own PR and
Social Media Account Executive, Margot MacKay, recently wrote a
blog post for the Philadelphia PRSA chapter on this topic, using
insight from her personal experience as a wedding blogger and a PR
