2010 Wall Ball

Every year, the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program holds a gala event to celebrate mural-making, community and recognize honorees for their support of the city and the mural arts program. This year Mural Arts honored Ballard Spahr for their contributions to the region and their support of the program over the years and presented Liz Dow, President of Leadership Philadelphia with the Mayor's award. We were tasked with designing the brand and invites for the event again this year. Below is the logo that Brownstein Group designed for the event.

Mural Arts are one of those clients that creatives get excited for. They have an inherent appreciation of the arts, duh, and are savvy when it comes to design. The best part is that they allow us to have fun and push things a little farther because they appreciate what is put into the work. That is a huge part of why the relationship continues to flourish and why we are so open to supporting their cause as well.

In addition to the event design, we also needed to design our own ad for the Patron Book that was distributed at the event. We only had a couple days to pull an ad together, but knew that we wanted to make it special. We decided that the best way to honor Mural Arts would be for us to get our hands dirty and do some painting. So one fine afternoon we headed to the roof of our building to pump out some chiaroscuro. The turn out ended up being better than anticipated as over the course of an hour people were stopping up on the roof so they could help paint when they had a minute or two to donate to the project. in addition, we put together a small little time lapse video of the painting process. Partly because we wanted to, but also so you know that we actually got hands dirty and did a little painting.

It's not often that we get to step away from the computer to paint for our clients, but its opportunities like that that make this relationship so harmonious.
