Twetiquette

You know those people that constantly correct your grammar? Don't you just hate that?

Well, now they're stalking your tweets. And they aren't just on the lookout for grammar - they're correcting your spelling, your use of all caps, and even mocking vain tweets.

I really enjoy proofreading/copyediting as a profession - yeah, I know - but do I enjoy the practice enough to lurk around Twitter and Facebook, correcting those around me, on my own time? I don't think so. Sure, I notice these errors in all forms of media. But I think there is an important distinction in context where social media is just that - social. If I wouldn't correct my friends' conversational grammar, then I wouldn't correct the social media equivalent.

Take a deep breath GrammarCop and CapsCop - and leave poor John Cusack alone.
