Be There or...Be Cool.

Finally, a flash mob I can get behind. I've been trying to get
in on one of these Philly "phlash mobs" for months now, but I'm
always a few days behind the crowds. So by the time I get the
message I'm running down South Street solo terrorizing the locals,
or freezing time in 30th street while everyone whips around me. I
did get a few quarters thrown at me that time, though. Yay laundry
money!
Anyway. On April 30th you can be part of an augmented
reality flashmob in Amsterdam.
"JOIN the flashmob on Saturday the 24th around 14h. Prepare your
phone, install the right Augmented Reality software, choose your
favorite character and contribute it to the pool of virtual 'human
sculptures' on the Dam square"
You can choose between "a Darth Vader, a superman, a gladiator
and some undecipherable sort of gothic characters."
While altered or heightened sense of reality is nothing to this
corner of the world, this time we will be the ones seeing the
things that don't exist. And no brownies need be involved. So
August 24th you can sit at your computer and you could
pretend to be Darth Vadar, but not really. And you could pretend to
be standing in a place you're not. Sounds dangerously close to
larping to me. LIGHTENING BOLT!
(quirky side note: we think 14h means
2pm)
