Don’t Meet Her in a Dark Aisle
She's baaaaack.
A few weeks ago, the incessant commercials for Black Friday
began. I expect them every year, so it doesn't seem like that big
of a deal. But I didn't expect the Target psycho-shopper to return
with her Stepford wife tendencies for a second holiday season. The
Christmas Lady [who, btw, apparently is comedian Maria Bamford], is
back and crazier than ever.
Not gonna lie - she scares me a little. Her serial killer eyes
and demented behavior seem more appropriate for a Misery
remake than a Target 2-day sale ad. Which is precisely why I didn't
shop at Target at 4am on Black Friday. That, and I never shop on
Black Friday.
Some love her. Others, like me, find her painfully annoying
[despite my otherwise love for Target]. Either way, "Kudos,
Target." You've generated so much buzz because of her return. And
you've even taught her how to tweet. @ChristmasChamp, thanks for
all the tips on grabbing the door busters. Shall I be expecting
another frightful return in 2011?
